Chakra jointly carried out a feasibility study to assess the viability of a site identified within the Dewata tea estate during an earlier field trip to the estate. On the basis of the study&#8217;s findings and the projected fuel price increases, PT. Chakra decided to go ahead with the implementation of a 250 kW mini hydro power plant. The scheme would harness the hydraulic potential of the Cikahuripan river which runs through the estate. Construction was started in early 2001 and completed in December 2002. This decision was fully vindicated when in 2001 the Indonesian Government began its policy of fuel subsidy removal. The Kalimaron Micro Hydro Power Plant was constructed in the 1990s at the instigation of the PPLH (Environmental Education Centre), which utilises a T-12 Crossflow Turbine and an asynchronous generator (induction motor as generator), with an output of ?? kW. At that time, the electricity generated was solely employed for the operation of this training centre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2001, the initial repair and reconditioning procedure was conducted by augmenting the discharge and substituting the electrical and mechanical equipments with the T-14 Crossflow Turbine and synchronous generator, which exhibited enhanced efficiency. Following the repair work, the capacity reached 25 kW. The electricity generated is not only used for the operation of the training centre, but is also supplied to the residents of Janjing Hamlet, with the remainder sold to PLN. The project comprise of the civil structures, upgrading and replacement of the electromechanical equipments and interconnection facilities. Rehabilitation of the civil structures including the repair on the water conveyance system, stabilization of the weir, repair and replacement of sluice gates, stabilization and repairs at the forebay, power house and other miscellaneous repairs. The works providing quite large number of short term employment which mainly (90%) taken from the local people in the village. The electromechanical rehabilitation comprises of overhaul of hydraulic turbine with the improved design, replacement of generator, control system, protection and interconnection facilities to meet the national standard (PLN).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After rehabilitation, the plant supplying the grid through the medium voltage line(20kV) with the capacity of one unit up to 330 kW. The interconnection scheme is one of the pilot project for the small power producer which sell the electricity to the grid according to the decree of the Mineral and Energy Resources Ministry regarding the procedure for small scale power plant up to 1MW called \u201cPSK Tersebar\u201d. To address this critical need and promote sustainable development, the installation of a micro hydropower plant was proposed. This UNIDO initiative aligns with the local government&#8217;s priorities and offers numerous benefits, such as clean energy generation, reduced reliance on imported fuels, improved electricity distribution, minimal environmental impact, and community empowerment through involvement in the project&#8217;s development and management. By investing in this project, we can help Nias Island recover from the disaster and build a more resilient and sustainable future. <br \/>PT Entec Indonesia was involved in a number of stages of the project, including preparation and planning (feasibility study), construction supervision and operation and maintenance training. In this project, our role was to provide supervision and oversight of the construction process and the procurement of electrical and mechanical equipment. The MHP was planned prior to the establishment of PT Entec Indonesia. At that time, we were engaged in the feasibility study through the MHPP (Micro\/Mini Hydro Power Project). This project is a GIZ initiative, which includes the objective of supporting the implementation of micro-hydro power plants in order to supply electricity to PLN (National Grid) through the government policy of the Republic of Indonesia, known as PSK Tersebar or Scattered Small Scale Power Plants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The implementation of this MHP construction involved numerous parties. KOPENINDO (Indonesian Energy Cooperative) initiated the project, which was subsequently supported by the Central Java Provincial Government and the Wonosobo District Government. The development funding was obtained from a revolving fund from ADB. The management of the project is carried out by the Roudlotuth Tholibin Jawar Islamic Boarding School Cooperative. The Wangan Aji Micro Hydroelectric Plant (MHP) has a capacity of 140 kW and a flow rate of 1.4 m\u00b3 at a head of 13 m. It is located in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, and was constructed with the objective of interconnecting with the national grid. Local cash counterparts were extended by the Provincial Local Government Unit of Davao del Norte and the Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) of Arakan, Don Marcelino, Kapalong and Pantukan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With an approved total project cost of EUR 4,575,625.49, it is designed to provide clean, sufficient and sustainable energy for One Hundred Sixteen off-grid communities in Mindanao benefiting a total of 4,331 households. These communities are located in seven municipalities, namely: Don Marcelino (Davao Occidental Province); Kapalong and Talaingod (Davao del Norte Province), Pantukan (Davao de Oro Province); Arakan and Sitio Lubas (North Cotabato Province), and Picong (Lanao del Sur Province). All of them are referred to as \u201cun-energized\u201d or \u201cunviable\u201d based on the categorization of the electricity distribution utilities operating in the said municipalities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This project is in support of the overall efforts of the Government of the Philippines to attain 100% electrification, and to promote the use of renewable energy. As such, it complements the efforts of the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Electrification Administration (NEA) the local electric cooperatives namely: Cotabato Electric Cooperative (COTELCO), Northern Davao Electric Cooperative (NORDECO), Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative (DASURECO) and, Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (LASURECO).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243;
